Random Critters

I swear they can hear me breathe a mile away.

Dakota & Lil Man
are decidedly tired of this Arkansas heat & humidity.

I have no idea what kind of egret/heron this is.
The curved beak...I don't know. I know he's blurry, but any ideas?  He's new to my pond.

This fella was in a dead tree a long way out in the field.
I so wanted him to be an eagle, but I couldn't see with the naked eye.   Oh well, he looks tough up there, doesn't he?  Ready to pounce on any unsuspecting field mice.

Love every one, safe in their own habitat, waiting for something? anything? maybe you with your camera. The two equine beauties, hope a cooler day keeps them happy and safe too.

Hello,

I often see the birds flying away from me, they must hear me coming.
Love the horses, they are beautiful. Your White bird with the curved beak is the White Ibis. The last shot looks more like a Turkey Vulture.
Great captures and post. Thank you for linking up and sharing your post. Take care and enjoy your day, wishing you a happy weekend. PS, thank you for leaving me a comment.

what a neat variety. I feel for the horses. The water waders have it better these days.

That's an Ibis with the curved beak! What a neat sighting! WOW! And of course I love the horses and hope it cools for them soon. Happy weekend!

I agree with Lavender Dreamer - it appears to be a White Ibis, but they're normally much farther south!

I'm with the horses... it's been awfully hot and humid lately!!

Gosh you live in beautiful country! Do you see critters like this all the time? I wonder if your mystery bird is an Ibis?

It's a white ibis And I'm right there with the same sentiment as the horses...tired of the summer heat & humidity! (tho, I'll take that for 3 months instead of snow for 6 months). Thanks so much for taking time from your day to share your birding with us at IRBB this week.

One of your readers said, a white Ibis. Do you read Marjorie Kennan Rawlings ever? Not the Yearling so much but Cross Creek and her book of short stories. She talks about eating those things. Like a turkey its against the law now. I am glad you got a picture of one.
Yes, I can imagine you are tired of the heat and humidity.
Your pictures are wonderful. Have a lovely Sunday.

I think your bird is a White Ibis. We have those in Florida. Speaking of which, I’m glad to not be there right now! It has been hot here in Oregon too, but not so humid. You have a nice nature walk there, how nice to have your own pond!
