Foto Friday 8 ~ The Heat is On

The sun lately is no joke sizzling.  I'm already exhausted from the heat and humidity and it is barely July yet.  After being in the house for three weeks with bronchitis, I did not even want to venture outdoors, but groceries had to be bought and it had to be done.
Today I am thankful for the cool air and  rain that came and went, and vegetables fresh from the garden.  Our tomatoes have finally started filling out, but blossom end rot almost got them for sure.  Now the cut worms have arrived, and what in the heck causes this??:

Sometimes you just have to laugh when your efforts are stymied at every turn.  Too much water, not enough water, not enough calcium and now whatever this is.  Surely one of y'all are super gardeners and can tell me what in the world this is caused by.  Of course we are going to eat them anyways  :)

Dr Pepper, a main staple of my diet for eons.  Over the years I have switched to Diet Dr Pepper, but I remain true to the pop.  I have never been able to drink coffee; although I have tried many times.  So I have to get my caffeine from somewhere.  This mural is located in a nearby town, and I've seen it a hundred times and never thought to stop and really look at it.   If you want to know what the numbers 10, 2 and 4 mean, and also a little history on this sugary drink- check that out here!

Double rainbow after a storm. Painting in the sky.

Thankful for life carried on, but scared about their future.  Meet Bo, my newest great grand.  Isn't he just the cutest?  This makes three greats!

My sister brought this back for me; a Chili Ristra, from New Mexico.  She said they are for good luck and good health.  Ok then, bring it!

Dakota and his reflection

It's hard to believe this old guy is turning 30 this year.
Where has the time gone? Horses are the real life-long deal. I would love to have another horse, but I am afraid it would outlive us.
~~~~~~
Overheard twice in the last two weeks while grocery shopping- "can't afford to pay for this medicine"....
it's a big issue, and it worries me a great deal with retirement coming soon for us.
~~~~~~
I haven't lost any more weight lately, but what little I did lose seems to be what was once my heat regulator.  I now seek out warm socks at night and sweaters during the day.  I'm not sure I like this colder version of me.
~~~~~~
If you haven't seen it already, check out the Disney  movie- "Togo"  It was a good one, and based on a true story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Have a great weekend!
