Down by the Lazy River

Blue taking a swim

To slide or not to slide

Mine, mine, mine

Woodpecker in the shadows

Ooops, Swallowtail- I was wrong!

Great Blue Heron
then he dropped his wings like they do when they are hot...but it wasn't hot,
and he had just went for a swim.
Hit full screen to see him closer.

Wow, they are all superb pics, love the Heron, the slip, slide and away. Maybe just thinking, will I, won't I???? but with a cookie, and that look, he is the winner for me today.

The silhouette of the woodpecker is unmistakenly a pileated!! Love it. Very mysterious.
The squirrel photo is an absolute hoot! SWEET!

And that Blue Heron really went deep, didn't it? I don't ever recall seeing them in the water up to their belly here. Great image.

Thanks so much for adding your link to this post with us at I'd Rather B Birdin' this weekend. Always a joy to view your shares!!

Nice wildlife shots! Love the shadowy woodpecker figure.

I liked the woodpecker in the shadows. Not feeling too happy with squirrels lately as one is insistent that he gnaw his way through the deck fencing. Nice video with the closeup of the heron, though I didn't get to see the flapping wings, you described it so well that I feel as if I did.
Loved walking with you...

A pipevine swallowtail or blue swallowtail, I think that is the butterfly! Just had it on my flowers recently and looked it up, so it is fresh in my mind. Won't remember this time next year most likely!
Lovely photos.

Awwwww these are wonderful.
I've never seen a Great Blue swimming. They're usually stalking. The squirrel shot made me smile. What a great capture that one is. I nearly missed seeng the pileated woodpecker in the shadows. I'm glad you pointed him out. I loved that photo once I saw the bird.
Pipevine Swallowtail, a real beauty. What a nice selection, the pileated woodpecker always a treat for me.

These are some great shots! I like the blue turtle. Can't say that I have ever seen one before. My son got an interesting shot of a turtle. It was a big turtle carrying a baby turtle on its back. Now how crazy is that?

You got some great shots! I see the squirrel has a tiny notch out of his left ear - must have had a scuffle with something. Love your woodpecker shot. I had one of a Pileated Woodpecker last month.

That mischievous squirrel. I love taking pictures of them, they just scare me a bit. Terri, your pictures always make my heart sing.

Wishing you sweet September days.

That squirrel is getting ready for winter! heehee! We always camped at the Cossatot every summer when my kids were growing up and we lived in Texas. One of my sons still goes there a couple of times every year. Love seeing these photos! Hugs, Diane

Wondrous pictures, you have an eye for the best shots. I especially appreciate the woodpecker picture even though it is not as clear and concise as the other pictures. What a gift you have to be able to photograph the wild life in your area and share it. Beautiful.
Truly wonderful images and that squirrel is so very precious!
Have a lovely day.
