Thankful Thursday

Today I am thankful for storms that go south and north and miss us completely, although I know we have just been lucky so far. I'm praying for the ones who were in the path and were either killed or injured or lost their homes.

My mom seems to be holding steady and for that I thank God, because this cancer is a {mystery} to me- to be gone but causing so much damage in it's wake.

I tried a new strategy this week and hid Katie's feeder between feedings.  She was sitting in front of it for three and four hours before each feed.  This backfired on me as she ended up yakking up all her food again.  I don't know what to do with her and this strange obsession with staring at her food bowl hours on end.

My daughter had surgery last week, and they removed her gall bladder and checked out some inflamed lymph nodes...fortunately the biopsy they did showed everything was benign, and she is feeling a lot better now.

I hope you are having a wonderful week!  Sending prayers for those who are ill.

  4. Good news for your daughter, and as for Katie, have they checked her throat? her teeth? Does she go and eat grass? could she have a fur ball? When our cats heave up, I start to look for anything unusual as vet clinics do not always look beyond the obvious. Down here, a small town with about 600 homes( at least 7 hours north of us ) has been completely flooded. The river stop-banks could not contain the massive amount of water. 1.5 metres right through. Homes, shops, farms, motels and businesses. Everyone was evacuated in time. pets in cages, animals marooned on tiny patches of slightly higher ground. I am thankful no lives were lost, and think of the absolute mess they will find when they are allowed to return. Life can change so quickly.

  6. Sounds as if a few storms of life have come close. Glad that the others have gone sailing by...the best kind. Glad that your daughter is doing much better and praying that your mom starts feeling much better. Must check to see who Katie is...sounds like a kitty, but perhaps not...will find out!

  8. I'm with you on that first paragraph. There have been several recently and we've been very blessed. Strange how even a few miles can make a world of difference.

Good news about your mother and your daughter, but I'm sorry you can't get kitty's food problem resolved.

  9. I'm glad to hear your daughter's health is good and she had a good report after her surgery and, that your mother is doing well too. Katie's behaviour toward food is so strange. You have had some very serious storms there this week as I saw on the news. So much destruction and death! We are finally getting some spring weather, aka rain, which is better than snow. Take care. Blessings, Pam

  13. Oh, Terri. Sometimes the aftermaths of cancer (even when it is gone) is worse than the cancer and treatment. We are finding the same thing here with my husband. Blessings to you and your mom. xo Diana

  22. Prayers for your mom and your daughter's continued recovery. I know the feeling about the storms. Our farm didn't suffer any damage, but so many others in our county, did. Thanks for linking up and I hope to see you again next Thursday. Have a great weekend!

  27. Continued prayers, Terri. George's brother has cancer --and is in 'remission' now---but is still in bad shape with so many 'other' problems. NOT FUN--as you know.

Funny about your Katie... Maybe she is worried that someone else will come and eat her food --so she is protecting her bowl..... ???????

We dodged a big frost/freeze last night. Crazy weather for all of us.

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  30. This is one of the most beautiful images I've seen! The colors, the geese, the composition! All terrific.

You and your family are going through a lot of turmoil...I hope you find peace with it all very soon.

  32. Oh Terri...I am so sorry that things are so challenging for you. I went through cancer with my Mom and then my own within a month. I am glad your daughter's biopsy is negative. I don't know how old your cat is, but mine will be 15 and Ollie started to lose weight. He has early kidney disease and is now on a special food. My sister is a vet and she would suggest taking the cat in for an exam and lab work which is expensive but some illnesses can cause strange behavior too. Sending hugs your way...Michelle
