Backyard Birds

Good Monday morning to you all
Lots going on today
The martins are all abuzz getting their nests ready
and as you can see, there is a stranger in their midst.  I'm guessing a sparrow?

I did get my new camera-
it's a Nikon and so far I like it alright
just glad to have a camera in my hands again!

This Mockingbird looks a little perturbed.  Well, yeah, if I was sitting around on a bunch of thorns & stickers  I would be fussy too.

Please wish my sweet Katie **Happy Birthday**- she is ten now and although a fussy mussy about her food, no major health problems yet.

I hope you all have a blessed week- I am so glad that spring is finally here!

  13. Katie, 10 is a good reason to celebrate. The bird houses, what great rooms they have to select from. Enjoy your spring days, we are in Autumn, dark mornings, cooler nights, and some sunshine almost every day, with showers as well.

  16. Well done with the Martins! My husband would be jealous... he's never been able to attract them, getting bluebird families instead (which suits me just fine since they eat plenty of mosquitoes, too).

    Happy double-digit birthday, Katie! Meow!

  18. Every time I see your bustling condo I chastise myself for letting another year go by without putting up my own. What fun they must be to watch.
Your new camera is great but then you never take a bad picture. Happy Birthday Katie from me and Minnie. She is looking good.

  21. Happy Birthday, Katie! Glad you got a camera...I hope you enjoy it. I love my little P&S, except it doesn't have a viewfinder and I really miss that. But so lightweight compared to my DSLR...

  26. We put up a Martin house a few years ago and still haven't seen a martin. There are other birds going in and out though. I'll just have to settle for that. Terri, I enjoyed the comment you left on my post about our mothers sewing. Honestly, I can't seem to find time to reply to comments anymore. I blame it on my husband's retirement and being underfoot all the time. :)

  30. It's so nice to see the purple martins around your birdhouses. There aren't as many in our areas the past few years but hopefully they'll come back. We have no spring birds returned here in our area yet. Just too much snow and no open fields. Hopefully in the next week as the temperature warms above freezing the snow will melt and the birds will return and rediscover their nesting spots for another season. Take care. Pam
