Randoms ~ November 4

It's time for another week of randoms:

Can you really judge a book by it's {spine}?
Murals painted on our local library.  I'm partial to Winnie the Pooh myself, and to Little House..two of my favorites, and of course, anything by J.R.R. Tolkien.

It's pretty {amazing} that no one was in this old downtown building when it collapsed one morning.  No {surprise} that the hardware store next door moved across the street, either. Yikes!

I sat on the backporch with my mom this morning, watching a bluebird pair fuss and carry on over this rotted out hole in her pear tree. Making a new nest? Could be.. they sure were arguing about it.

And at home, I am watching in despair as my pond dries up.  A smaller one on the left is completely dry now and that has not happened once in 25 years.  I don't know what it going on or why..evaporation, I'm sure, but it's agonizing to watch.  You can see the dark brown edges- that is like a day or two, maybe three at the most, where it is going down.
We sure do need rain!

It rained for like 5 seconds on Thursday.

  3. I LOVE the library wall! Hope you will eventually be able to post some bluebird babies. Are you guys way behind in rainfall, or is the evaporation really that bad? We lose a lot of water in our pool to evaporation.

    1. We are behind and almost in a burn ban, but I don't understand why the pond is doing so bad...it's never happened before!

  9. What treat to have the bluebirds. The male usually put a ring of pine needles in to impress the female for a good site.

  10. That library wall mural is great! Glad no one was injured when that building collapsed. Yikes! I wonder if those are 'my' bluebirds in your trees. We had a lot around a few weeks ago as they migrated south. Such sweet little things. Have a blessed weekend.

so very sad about your pond. new jersey is in a severe drought and it is visible everywhere. even our beautiful reservoir is way down. we are really lacking in rainfall and there is none in the forecast!! no watering, no washing of cars, but people are not obeying it!!!

  16. That library mural is perfect!!! Love it. Also love the bluebirds. I get them at my water fountain but the sparrows have stolen the bird boxes I have out. The sparrows sure are aggressive.
Sure hope you get some rain. I rained here last night but not even enough to register.

  21. That library is outstanding!! I think my favorites are Winnie the Pooh and Gone With the Wind. Too clever!

After such a wet, wet August, we've had little to no measurable rain in the past two months and I think we are under a burn ban. I do know it's really dry. I'm hoping that "chance" on election day materializes.

    Great capture of the bluebirds!
