Randoms ~ August 19

Random randoms from the last week or so:

I have one and a half Texas Sage bushes left...the whole one bloomed for me after a week of rain here.  I got a photo before the bees even discovered the blooms.  This is not a great shot, but I like it for some odd reason.

Remember the beautiful flags my father placed at the cemetery?  Someone stole one of them before he could come back and pick them up after the 4th.  Sometimes all you can do is just shake your head. No rhyme, no reason. Just meanness.  Pure D meanness.

Oh, I do not like it!  Not one little bit! said Dr Seuss and myself to myself this morning.  The more I walk, the more my leg hurts.  The more I stay off it, the weaker I get and the less I can walk.  It's a conundrum I tell you!

Two weeks of vacation are on the horizon...and I can't think of a single place to go. But go we will, by gollies.  I just have to figure out where!

I leave you with a fence & a few random sparrows, and I am sure they would take offence at me calling them......random.

That's me on the top, far right.  :) That's how I look hobbling and wobbling around here lately.

  1. Your leg will heal, maybe rest and a few days away will be the turning point. Hovering wee birds, they all know where to sit.

  2. Sigh on the oxygen thief who also stole your father's flag.
Love your Texas Sage and sparrows and hope your leg learns to behave.

  6. Maybe that pain is part of the healing, i hope at least.Don't overdo , I can imagine its bad to just sit around

  7. I so enjoyed the sunny fence sitters!
And your sage blossoms are pretty...here, they bloom in our yard only after a rain.

  8. Sorry to hear that your leg is still bothering you. I'm not sure what yours is but I did walk my pain out but mine was sciatic nerve. Took 9 months. The flower is beautiful I love that photo. Be sure to pick a place where you don't have to hobble too much for vacation

  9. Bless your heart... It's hard knowing whether you are helping by moving around and walking or whether you need to put that leg up and not put weight on it... Like you said, it is a conundrum. My guess is that you need to keep moving --even with the pain... ???????

I am the opposite of you when it comes to vacations. I have WAY too many places I want to visit (or re-visit)... ha... When I find a place I love, I always want to go back again and again...

    Great pictures.
    Hugs,
    Betsy

  10. How the sparrows do seem to love to watch everything that's going on. Good picture for good fences. That sage is so lovely. Who would have thought?

  11. Pretty flowers! Sometimes you need to use your leg for it to get better. And sometimes it does hurt until you body get used to movement. Don't give up!

  12. Sometimes we can be like those birds on a wire ... wondering where to fly next! :)

  13. we are in the same "health" boat, so to speak. although i feel as though the entire body is broken ;))))) those purple flowers, oooooh thank you, so beautiful!!!!

  14. Ouch. Maybe a stationary bike would give you strength with out added stress. I use mine when my hip hurts. It works the muscle not the bone.

  15. I love the flower shot.Hope that leg gets better soon.

  16. Lovely photos! Hang in there, don't give up. I will be 60 in October and have struggled with arthritis pain for decades. You have a lovely blog.

  17. Hello!:) I love the pretty blue flowers, and the sparrows on the fence. Have a nice vacation wherever you decide to go, but take care.:)

  18. Those flowers are gorgeous and I can certainly see why you like this photo. All your photos are a lovely sight. But I was very sorry to hear about the missing flag. Just can't understand why someone would do such a thing, out of a cemetery, dreadful!

  19. Very cute seeing all those birds on the fence and one in flight.

  20. I laughed out loud at your comment about wobbling like the bird. :-). I'm sorry you're still in pain and pray that it will be better soon. I know what you mean about, "do I exercise or not?" I'm kind of in the same boat there. And it's SO HOT! That doesn't make it easier. My Hubby has vacation time coming but is too busy to take it so I may be flying to D.C. To see our daughter's family all alone. Bummer. Hope you find a place soon.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  21. Oh that is just horrible about the flags and so disrespectful. No pain no gain I suppose I am having the same problem but am still pole walking even though I do half of the others in the group. We shall persevere you and I. HUGS B

  23. I understand about your leg. I injured my knee almost a year ago now, and although it is much improved, it still isn't quite right. Your flowers are pretty, and I love the random birds shot. I hope you find a wonderful place to go and have a great time on your vacation.

  24. It's really hard regrouping after an injury. I don't like losing fitness at my age - too difficult to get it back! Cannot believe the disrespect of a person who would steal a flag.

  25. Your flower photo is so lovely, I love the colour.
Hope your leg feels better soon, I did laugh when you compared yourself to the bird on the wire fence.

    Take care

    All the best Jan

I wish you a wonderful weekend!

  32. It's so hard to know just how much to do to continue to heal and not do more damage. But walking some is important too. I hope you get better every day! Hugs!

  33. Great photo's. Feel better soon. The fence reminds me of the Garth Brooks song Birds on a wire. I linked a special fence photo too. Come over and see me. Enjoy your weekend.

  35. I am so sorry you are having trouble with your leg. Oh, it is such joy to get older, isn't it? LOL! No, really, I would prefer all of these aches and pains over the alternative, that's for sure! So nice to visit with you today...and thank you for your sweet comments left on my blog. God bless you and make you well soon!

  36. Oh I hope that you find a beautiful vacation place to relax and fully recover. (By the way, I think that sparrow was just showing off his yoga moves.... hope you can do that soon instead of hobbling on one leg, darn i tall). The flowers are beautiful.

  37. Your photo of the sparrows (and the sparrow on the top far right) made me smile. And I do like the soft purple of sage blossoms. Hope your leg feels better soon! Pain is no fun. Sometimes you just have to walk/work through injuries and other times you just have to rest to recover; it must be really tough when neither strategy seems to work! Sending a prayer your way for a quick recovery. Take care!

  40. i have worked at several florist in the past and the stories i was told about cemetery items that were taken is just heartbreaking. i am shocked to see what folks will take. it is just nuts. why would folks take things that are not their own? seems very cruel. : (

    i know when we visit our family at the cemetery you go there to say hello, talk about old times and just leave your respects & to think you will have some one take something you have left behind is so so sad. we leave flowers all the time. i wish folks were more kind and thoughtful about it all. ( ;

  41. Oh My so sad about the flags. I hope you are enjoying your vacation! :)

  42. I've been hobbling too. And coincidentally, the flag at the entrance to our subdivision was stolen along with a sign.

  43. The Texas Sage bushes are so beautiful! I have one in my front yard and have enjoyed it so much, especially since it is great cover for over a hundred birds who have frequented my yard on a daily basis. Mine is scraggly and doesn't bloom as much as some of the younger ones I see around town, but I just love it when they are all blooming! Great photos!
