Fly Over

These two were soaring over my pond this morning.  My son says he has seen them before, but they aren't regular visitors.  I thought the top one was a vulture, but I don't recognize the white one.  I assume they are a pair since they soared together and left together.  Sorry for the blurry pics, but they were a good distance away by the time I got my camera.  Anyone know?  I need a bird ID.

  10. I agree with the others...it looks like an Osprey! We had one at our pond last fall (I was amazed at its size) and my husband saw it again just this week.

  19. Lovely birds. I had a Cooper's hawk sitting on a rock drinking from the pond yesterday six feet from my back door. I am hoping he wasn't dining on my songbirds!

I've been searching the meadows for the sand hill cranes, but so far I've only seen a couple .
It's always great to have the birds visiting!

  32. At first glance it does look like a vulture, especially the high flying shot. The bird in the second picture is too beautiful to be a vulture for sure. I've never seen an Osprey. Your pictures are always beautiful!

  33. My first thought was osprey. Are you near water?

  34. Anytime you have an Osprey...or two! It's epic! One is an Osprey while the other looks like a Turkey Vulture! Congrats!

  35. What a wonderful opportunity to see and take this shot.

  36. They are completely beautiful...we have the eagles here, and I woke up to them keening yesterday. Not a good morning for the song birds, and the quail that visit us each day. Hopefully the eagles just get the mice, and not the birds.

  38. I was going to say Osprey also but will leve it to the experts. Great flying shot!

  39. Good for you maybe they will nest. We have a nest or two in the area but they are high traffic areas and getting photographs is dangerous:(

  40. You've got a pair of Ospreys there! I blogged about them today so I'm pretty sure vim right. Your flight shots are way better.... Beautiful blue sky makes a great background.

  42. Hi there, Just stopping by to say “Happy Mother’s Day” to you. I’m sure you are having a fabulous day. I celebrated yesterday when one of my sons and his beautiful wife came to see us….

As you probably know, we’ve been out-of-town this past week and I haven’t done any blogging much at all. I hope you enjoyed my two Tulip blog posts while we were gone——and be sure and tune in tomorrow morning to find out what we’ve been doing this past week….

Enjoyed your post today! Beautiful Ospreys.

    Hugs,

  46. Those are interesting birds! I extremely dislike it when I'm watching birds and my zoom isn't quite strong enough to catch them well! But from what I can see, the feathers in the second photo are beautiful!
