Yard Birds

Lots of birds hopping around in the yard today-I figure they know the snow is coming Sunday, so they are filling up while they can still see the ground.  I've got these tiny purple weed flowers blooming and a few green blades of grass where my husband blew the pine straw off.   The martins will be here in the next week to ten days and then I will start thinking Spring!  I've not seen the blackbird  before, he's a new one around here.
Happy Valentine's Day!

**4 purple martins showed up this morning, YAY!!

  1. Good luck with that snow. We're to get some, but what we're mostly bracing for is the cold.

  2. A very disgruntled-looking lady cardinal up top there, had you run out of her favourite seeds? Quite an assortment of visitors there; hope they (and you!) make it safely through the coming snow.

    I'm so over winter.

  3. great shots but it would be lovely if we all knew what they were. This is a good way of learnng about birds in other countries. Happy St Valentine's day and have a wonderful weekend.

  15. They talk, eat, or just stand and pose. Lovely, every one, #1 with muted shades, superb, and your last one, did you do some PP, the grass has an almost "Monet" effect" and the feathers in perfect focus, one to print and hang on the wall. Hope your Feb 14th went well, it was almost over before I realised what day it was.

  31. Nice collection of yard birds! We have spiders in out garden that place a rolled up leaf in the middle of their webs - this is a sure sign that high summer is coming to an end. Different seasons. Different places.

  36. I bet it is so nice to hear the birds out and about and hope they all stay warm and toasty when the snow comes. The black one looks like a starling or a grackle?

  38. Your photos are marvellous! Very clear and distinct! Thanks for sharing and also for your visit.About the "battery"chickens I can say that their lives is sheer hell, for the chickens are confined in small cages and are forced to produce eggs without a break. You can understand that they are all in very bad health.
