Snow Days

Sleet and snow, it's time to go
the martins are singing their muted songs
waiting for the March winds to pick up and blow through
Jack and Dakota in the barn
poor Little Man standing outside
The pecking order has changed with Grady gone.
He was the leader - the boss,
and now Dakota gets his chance.  But Jack..
he doesn't follow any old horse..no sir,
not that stubborn but sweet mule.
I still count heads and have to stop myself at four,
remembering with a heart jab that
number five is gone.
Kids played outside yesterday- a snowman and a snowpig
were built and I heard lots of laughter.
It's little things like that, that make
me happy.

My oldest grand got me out in the snow to take a few more senior pics. Just a few more weeks and she will graduate.  Time flies.

  5. A beautiful G-daughter, and Grady, I did a post in April 2013, Once We Were Five. A loss like yours and mine and others too, takes so long to accept, guess we never accept, definitely never forget, they are always in our hearts. Hugs.

  40. I wish that I'd put more work into taking shots of people, but I've grown weary trying. You have an excellent touch. I'd say that senior pics in the snow are unique. (In the strictest sense of the word, not what TV has turned its meaning into.)
