An Old Charmer

I've shared this one before.  I stopped on my way to the river last week and got a new shot of it. One of these days I'm going to be brave enough to stop at the house across the road and ask how old it is.  Is that a ladder on the left of the door?  I never noticed the upper door before.

  2. Oh this is a charmer, makes me wish I could swoop down and rescue it! I'd say you're right, that is a ladder to the left of the door, presumably to allow access to a hayloft.

  3. Cool I love that and the ladder well it was probably to get in during snow storms like on little house on the prairie. Never mind I forgot where you live:) Hug B

  7. Sure looks like a ladder to me, but I wouldn't get from the ladder to the upper door. Tom The Backroads Traveller

  8. What stories this building could tell if only it could talk.

  9. It must really be old to be built out of logs! And that does look like a barn loft, doesn't it? Great photo my friend! Hugs!

  14. Probably a storage loft--that would be my best guess. But it is interesting as you've noted.

  20. That is one amazing shed or barn, not sure which. The colors are amazing with the greenery in the foreground. I wonder what it was used for. It does look very old.

  21. i like this a lot, log cabins fascinate me... looks like the ladder is attached and now i wonder why the upstairs door.. maybe they lived in the bottom and stored hay up top? it would be interesting to know some of its history..

  25. That looks a lot like an old cabin that came with some property I bought in Fl. I had planned to fix it up but the resident termites made that impossible. Hope you find a way to get a closer look and take us with you.

  26. At first it looked like a house but the side shed roofs and the attic door for a loft makes it a barn. It would be neat to see inside.

  27. Wonder what stories that little cabin holds, the ladder looks so old. Good capture Terri x

  30. So is it a cabin or a barn? The ladder and upper door would make you think it's a barn. It must be a barn - with the over hanging roof that would be the place to park a tractor and plow. What a neat photo op!! YES!!! I would ask permission to explore and "shoot!" Neat!
