Give me Silver, Blue & Gold

One very lonesome heron at the state park today.
He was enjoying the quiet, until my camera clicked, and as always happens to me,
off he flew.  Birds have super hearing, I am learning.

  10. I know what you mean - I swear whenever we do chance to see a Great Blue Heron, they're well aware of our presence long before we even know they are there - and off they go - usually with no photos.

  13. I guess when you have so many enemies, good hearing is a plus. Wonderful shot of that solo heron.

  14. Well, if your camera is a digital, you can turn off the 'sound' in your camera's settings. I do it when I go birding all the time.

That is one super heron image tho....
    I have another g b heron on my personal blog--hootin' anni's

  20. I'm always in awe when I see a Heron. Love the in flight shot, great capture. You're not alone when it comes to shutter noise spooking the bird. Happens to me frequently.
