  2. Love your line-up of turtles. Cute shot. Also, not to alarm you, but you might want to have a "Bone Density" scan, just to check that you're not losing bone mass. I had one recently, and learned that I have Osteopenia...the next step would be Osteoporosis. Now they want to put me on some kind of bone building medicine. Ah, the joys of getting old. LOL

  3. your doc is safe... i have dropped from 5'6" to 5'4" and my shoe went from 7 1/2 to 9... we just keep on shrinking but not in SIZE just height.. i keep telling myself the wider me is because it is spreading out more in the shorter height.

  4. Nice spring day, for the turtles. Nowhere near that warm up here, but, perhaps, soon.

I was into my vet and found I had lost half an inch. Of height. The Great Shrinking Bear? Whatever. Terri: are you shrinking and expanding (in other ways) at the same time? Oh, dear; I hope not!

Sounds like jury duty. Something that will never happen to this Bear. As a Pastor, I'm barred from serving on a jury. As a journalist, likewise. And, of course, they don't like Bears on juries, either. Good luck Terri; maybe they won't need you, in the end.

    Blessings and Bear hugs!

  5. Aha ~ so the height we loose just slips into longer feet !
Got it .lol The same has happened to me.

  6. Terri I have gone from 5' 4" to 5' 3" and my shoe size from 5 and a half to 6 sometimes 7! We won't talk about how thin my hair has gotten.. :) Love those little turtle legs.. How dang cute are they? It was beyond skeery yesterday in central Missouri. We spent time in the basement and three turkeys that got caught as the front roared through pressed themselves to the side of the house and hunkered down. I am thinking all is ok with you?!

  7. Oh no, I don't like the sound of that language!!
I also went from a 7 shoe size to an 8 many years ago.
Thanks for clearing up for me why that happened..

  8. I'm sure I will get shorter but I really don't want the only little thing I grow to get larger...

  9. Wonder how they settle pecking order on the log?
I have done the shrinking and foot growing thing also. Our arches fall which accounts for some of it but Montana girl does have a valid point about some of it. According to the University of Arkansas "Older adults can get shorter because the cartilage between their joints gets worn out and osteoporosis causes the spinal column to become shorter,” Not very exciting.
Also, my ears have gotten bigger. Have no answer there.

  10. sunning turtles always make me smile. :) i was surprised when i went to my doc appt recently that i had not lost height. my shoe size hasn't changed - except i was surprised when i was fitted with running shoes a year ago or more that they 'made' me get a size and a half larger than i'd wear on a normal basis. guess they were trying to tell me something. ;)

  11. I'm not going near that measuring tape - I am so short already! My feet are getting wider, not shorter - what's up with that? Pretty soon I'll be quacking! :) Oh, I love those sweet little turtles - we have very few here in the Northwest. I grew up in New England on a pond and loved the painted turtles, but not the snapping turtles. They were scary. Hope your weather settles down - Mother nature has been raging this year. Stay safe please! :) xo Karen

  13. I love the turtles sunning on the log.
I am shorter too and went from a 7 shoe to 8 1/2!

  14. Yes, I am shrinking too. I have shrunk altogether two inches. But how come shrinking makes you have a bigger she size? The same is true for me, though. LOVE your turtles all lined up for a sun bath!

  15. Mmmmmmm, I have gone from 5' 3"..... Down to 5' 2 1/2".... If you grew, you should be in the Guinness Book Of World Records. LOL....

  21. I used to be a 7 but now am an 8. My shoe size grew 1/2 size with each pregnancy. My height hasn't shrunk (yet).

  22. I agree with the turtles ... sitting in the sun is the best! I've lost an inch in height and my shoe size has gone up ... getting older is only for the brave! :) Happy Critter Day!

  23. Hi Those turtles just knew you were going to photograph them and are in a great pose for you. NO I have NOT lost any inches yet! Have a great weekend.

  24. I could just go and sit on that log in the sunshine right now. Think those guys would let me? No, I thought not.
It' bad enough weighing without measuring too - one goes up, one goes down.

  28. I love to see turtles basking on a log.
The height loss is because the spine loses bone density as we get older, and the gel-like disks that separate each vertebra get worn down and thin.

  29. Thise turtles have the right idea! Yes, it does seem that height decreases and shoe size increases with age, but wonder why that is?

  30. I love to see the turtles sunning themselves. They seem so happy and content! Great shot! Thank you for sharing your post on Saturday's Critters! Have a happy weekend!

  31. they say as you get older you shrink. but i don't know who "they" are? doctors? just folks who talk or what? anywho ... no more changing in the shoe sizes. that must be tough for you & your shoe budget. ha. ha!! just kidding. ( :

i love turtles. have a great weekend.

  32. I'd be sunning on a log, too - I kind of wish I was right now... Jury duty? I got one in the mail this week, too - similar reaction - oh well...

  33. Love your turtle shots. sorry to hear that you are shrinking... be sure you get a bone density testing done . Maybe it has all gone to your feet. LOL. Isn't aging fun????

    ReplyDelete
  34. Love that shot of the turtles sunning and your comment about diving LOL - how true. Imagine if it were our feet that increased in size instead or our waists. I am seeing images of hobbits...

    ReplyDelete
  35. Wouldn't it be fun to have all day just practicing your diving? :)
I've been wearing Crocs for so many years I don't think I'd notice if my feet were getting larger but I'm curious if my height has changed. That's all I need - to be even shorter!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Did you know you lose at least a 1/2 inch if you measure your height first thing in the morning and then at the end of the day? I guess everything settles during the day. *shrug*
Hope you had a happy weekend!
