Trivial Pursuit

Cute little guy flitting around the back yard.  This photo is a bit out of focus- sorry!

The card/media reader on my computer quit and I haven't a clue how to fix it.  In the meantime, I guess I will have to upload my photos to my ipad and then email them to myself.

Isn't it ironic that we used to buy sugar in 5 pound bags until they suddenly became 4 pound bags and then today I bought a 5 pound bag that had this on the front:

which actually is giving us the original 5 pounds that we once bought for the same price.  Maybe ironic isn't the right word. LOL!

I still haven't gotten all the junk out of my junk room/bedroom.  It seems like the pile is getting bigger instead of smaller.  I've burned up my paper shredder shredding old utility bills from the late 90's..what in the world did I keep those for?

My week has been full of trivial this and that, a whole lot of nothing much,
but  the sun is shining today , and it's 60 degrees &
I'll be firing up the lawn mower if this keeps up.
Color me happy.

  1. i make it a habit to burn old bills every year or so - they make great fire starters. :) happy you're getting spring!

  2. Hi Terri, I use a card reader linked to a USB port,, it is a 2.0, on my laptop, and the multislot reader takes 5 types of cards. Just a bit slow. If you have a 3.0 port you will need a 3.0 card reader that will be so much faster. On my laptop I have an " express card" slot, I can purchase an adapter, that will give me 2 USB 3.0 ports, and when I get a faster reader, a 3.0 one, will be so happy!! This might be easier for you than transferring and emailing. Happy problem solving, Jean.

  3. Your bluebird is a great photo. We have them around but not in town. I am still amazed each time I go to the grocery store how the cereal boxes are shrinking in the thickness size but the front size is the same. The thinner boxes cost what they use to cost when they were fatter. I haven't seen the 5 pound sugar sale yet. I didn't know they were shorting us a pound there for a while but then I did find it ironic to have them shrink it.

  5. Hi Terri, Love the video! We are seeing lots of bluebirds, too. It is 65 here today! I hope you are feeling well and that you'll enjoy the weekend. Whatever will you do with all that BONUS sugar!!!! lol

  6. I delete the old utility bills after 3 months. I am not so good at getting rid of other papers in a timely fashion. It is mid 40s here today. Feels wonderful!

  7. I love the Blue Bird! I've noticed the 4 pound bags of sugar. 25% bonus...yeah right! Remember when yogurt came in 8 ounce cups and cost less that half a dollar. Now I pay a dollar for 6 ounces.

  8. We share our love of Pharrell's song! Enjoy the warm weather. As for the sugar...and other shrinking packages...I always feel like I've found such a bargain when I find the "old" sized ones. Then I get mad that I've gotten accustomed to the smaller ones with higher prices.

  10. Beautiful and soft.

You have accomplished more than I have. One piece at a time and you will be done before you know it. I keep telling myself that about my blue jean quilt.

  14. Oh I love Bluebirds. I keep all those bills too I have no idea why it may be time to have a bonfire and smores for me:) You can buy a card reader that plugs into your USB port I had to do that. Yeah that sugar thing makes me laugh out loud they must think we are pretty dumb :) hug B

  15. Love the bluebird! I hook my camera directly to my computer, with the USB cable, never have used a card for that, even when I used the desktop. My laptop doesn't even have a slot for cards.

  16. I got a whole lot of this and that this week too ~
but I didn't get one of those blue birds of happiness ~ great shot !

  17. It is pretty silly about the sugar! What a pretty bird

  18. Your sugar story is really sweet. But a bit confusing. As for old bills and stuff, they meet their fate in the fire place. Can you send your bills to the flames? Happy de-cluttering!

Blessings and Bear hugs, too, Terri.

  19. That is funny about the sugar. I remember when you posted about the 4 lb bags. I never even noticed. I think they had it planned all along : )

  20. Thanks for making me feel less abnormal.....someone else in the world doesn't take all perfectly focused and perfectly posed pictures! I'M NOT ALONE!!!

  21. Your little birdie is a cutie! And I love the song by Pharrell -- you just have to smile and be happy along with it! Have a wonderful weekend!

  22. Sixty degrees? Then that must be the Blue Bird of happiness. He is so cute.
You can try putting your card reader in another USB port, that works sometimes. The little card readers are cheap, when mine dies I get a new one.

  23. Good Morning Terri! So funny about the sugar!!! I can hear the happiness in your words.. :) I am happy with you. It was 60 in MissouREE yesterday too. Going to be chilly today but I looked at the 10 day weather and I saw a 72 degree day.. JOY! I am not a fan of what comes after Spring.. Summer.. but I love these transition days. We are no where near needing the mower but I could smell fresh mowed grass when I read your words.. :) Sweet Bluebird! Our Bluebirds have been busy and have been checking out houses. I was feeling a bit befuddled and melancholy this morning but your post has made me smile!

  25. Oh the marketing ploy of making us think we are getting a good deal. Very frustrating. LOL!
    Have a happy weekend!

  26. I am so looking forward to seeing the bluebirds back! I have an external card reader that plugs into a USB port. It works well for me.

  27. Good to see a Bluebird terri. It doesn't matter that it's slightly off focus.

I think I'd find another brand of sugar. "Vote with your wallet".

  28. I never see bluebirds but they always make me happy

  29. Oh your photo of the bluebird and tiny flowers, is lovely. Almost like an Impressionist painting or a water color. Simply lovely!!!!!

-chuckle- About the sugar bag size issue. Maybe you could contact the company and let them know, that at least YOU, are not "taken in" by their slight-of-hand. Hehhhhh....

Keep at the culling! Keep at it! :-)

    Gentle hugs,
    Tessa~

  30. Wah…my comment disappeared. I will try again. I came over from Pix Under the Oaks FB comment. LOVE the beautiful bluebird and the song. I have had that song on replay all week but I have been watching the Bermuda Tourism version since we just got back from there. I suspect my comment got gobbled up because I posted the link in the last comment so I won't do that this time. LOVE that song.

  31. Love the colours on the Blue bird, and when I first heard the Pharrell Williams track on the radio, I told my Daughter it would be the record of the year.
    All the best, Gordon.

    Enjoy your weekend!

  34. Great song! Followed a link from my buddy Pix to hear it and it really made me HAPPY. Another interesting thing is that the singer's name is Pharrell.....my Dad's name was Ferol - don't run into too many of those! I'm sure it's pronounced the same. As for the bluebird - how can ANYONE look at a bluebird and not smile? Not me!!

  36. I have the same feeling when I buy dog food, I get less and pay more.

  37. Cute little bluebird! I have a pair in my yard that just won't get close enough for me to take their picture.
I never thought about the card reader going bad. I'll have to ask my hubby about that.
Everything seems to be getting smaller and smaller for more and more.
I just read EG's comment - external card reader would be a good investment. I forgot I have one of those for my old laptop.:)

  38. HI Terri great shot of the Bluebird. Sugar, it is all a marketing ploy!

  39. That's a lovely picture of the Bluebird. So colourful.

  40. ...and don't forget the rise in costs....I always choke when I see meat prices!!! And speaking of sugar, I must stock up...soon the hummingbirds will be showing up.

    Beautiful bluebird!!!

  41. I love your bluebird! I haven't seen ours lately, I hope they survived this nasty winter. I hear ya about the sugar. You get less and pay more. Do they think we haven't gotten their number? lol

  42. That's so ironic about the sugar. Not surprising though. The grocery store is killing me lately.

  43. oh, i hope you can get it figured out soon. that sounds a pain in the rump. ( :

  44. Bluebirds are my all-time favorite little birds... A couple of ours (we have quite a few around here) were looking at the nest box recently.... It is too early.. Hope they wait awhile.

  45. I try to buy most staples when they are on sale or offered with a coupon, it makes a difference in the grocery bill. My husband just said the other day that his cereal doesn't last as long anymore but his serving size has not changed...sneaky companies anyway. I hope that Blue Bird finds me in two months:(

  46. got here via Pix under the Oaks - and enjoyed this post. such an uplifting video, and a cheerful bluebird.... and what is up with the sugar price? hmmmm....

  52. Nice bird!

One of the things that annoy me about food manufactures is when they give you "10%" free - if the food is a single portion (or enough for a family) chances are its just more food to eat - please just give me 10% off the cost if you need to!!

  53. When I was at the store this week it was the first time I noticed that sugar was in 4 lbs bags. I was so confused. But the 25% more, now that takes marketing nerve!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Gosh, you really got close to that bluebird. He's so vividly blue! Good for you on shredding old paperwork. If I have time, I only tear off the pertinent information and shred the part with my name, acct, etc. Saves time and hopefully won't burn out the shredder.

  55. I love the "Happy" song....I was listening to it the other day and you can't help but dance...:) The sugar thing burns me up but they don't ask my opinion...and I am the same way about the clutter...the more I do the more I have. Loved your post...sending warm thoughts!
