Friday's 5

My grandfather used to collect  mineral water from this spring in milk jugs.  I remember seeing the jugs lined up in the back room of his house.  I didn't like the taste at all, and still don't..  Some believe it has healing properties.   Why is it that things that are good for us usually taste bad?

I saw a weather report this morning.  Spring is here and our first storm is due Saturday.  I'm thinking of putting Mother Nature in time out for a couple of weeks because I have plans to go camping.

I have to tell you about my silly horse...yes...<big sigh> it's Little Man.    He has decided that the best way to keep the other horses out of his hay is to pee on his portion. (And yes, he then eats what he pees on)  I'm thinking he might need a horse shrink.

The water heater is fixed and the new a/c was installed on Monday.  I decided not to go looking for door number three.  I'm counting my blessings instead.

This week's read:  Primary Colors.  On the fence about it.
This week's movie:  Catching Fire.  Fantastic movie.  Loved it

I hope you all have had a wonderful week.
Thanks for taking the time to stop by for a visit.

  1. I can't wait to see Catching Fire. Honestly, I seldom like movies adapted from books I've liked but if Hunger Games is anything to go by, it will be smashing!
Little Man is either brilliant or.....well, lets go with brilliant, shall we? lol

  2. Mother Nature in time out... good idea, although time out would delay Spring, right? Personally, I think everyone is ready for some Spring weather! LOL!

Little Man pees on his hay and then eats it? That's just disgusting Little Man. Wouldn't it be easier to just
share it and keep it fresh?

About door number three... DON'T OPEN IT!

  6. Hi Terri. Have not seen Catching Fire. I did however see Hunger Games. And a horse that pees on his food then eats it? That's a new one on me!

  7. if you find a horse shrink tell him i need a good canine shrink for both our dogs... i really like the photo of the mineral spring. my grandmother had stink nasty water in her home here.... she loved it we hated it... and if we washed our hair in it we wasted our time. she had a rain water cystern used for washing hair. that meant carry a bucket inside to wash our hair... sorry for the flip back in time comment. never know what a post will trigger in my senior brain

  8. Ummm, Buck licks Sioux's pee spot in the yard. It must be a territorial thing? Ewwww.
I would love to sample that water -- I bet it is good for you!

  9. Terri,

Livestock are unpredictable and it is amazing the personalities they possess.

We have been enjoying spring like weather. It's wet and muddy here; much better than too dry. I just know we will have some kind of winter storm during calving and keep trying to think positive!

Last night I started a Cathryn Ryan Hyde book. I have read several and enjoy her writing.

    Here's to a fabulous weekend!

  11. Maybe Little Man thinks it has healing properties like the mineral water you wrote about. He probably doesn't really like the taste of it but won't admit it to the other horse.

  15. oh my goodness animals do such odd things sometimes-what is he saying? can it just be a territorial issue or is he upset about his feed...well pee is suppose to be sterile so at least he isn't poisoning himself.. I do hope you don't get a storm!

  21. That's really interesting about your horse peeing on his hay. I can't decide if he's smart or weird. lol! Put Mother Nature on hold for all of us while you're at it, okay? I'd like to get the garden tilled before the rainy season starts.

  22. Well you have to admit, though gross, I bet Little Man's gets to eat all his food.

  25. We have a one of those artesian wells close to our house....Just last year, we filled a bottle full and drank it. I remember this well from when I was a kid. This one has a wonderful, refreshing taste and it is soooo cold. That silly horse...I have never heard of such....but hey, if it works and it keeps the others from eating his share, then I guess it's good... Have a fun, safe camping trip.
    hugs to you
