If You're Happy and You Know It

Same moon, (good moon rising) setting on Sunday morning
you can see one of the many snapped pine limbs from a recent icing.

and now it's time for another random week round-up with
Nancy

I'm staring at our yearly termite insurance bill- and all I can think about is what else I could do with that money.

Is it just me or is the entire world in a bad mood? I can't even get the grocery store clerk to smile anymore.

Do any of you remember Home Interior? I decorated my home with it for over 20 years.  I miss them, but I guess Hobby Lobby is a good replacement, except they don't serve cake when I shop there.

I had another sleepless night the other night so I watched five episodes of Thirty Something on Amazon Prime.  I remember the 80's...I think.

I've pulled out two pair of capris and my flip flops are patiently waiting. I should paint my toe nails or something. Spring is here...I know this not because it is 70 degrees outside but because the martins have arrived!!!
Four showed up Monday evening. These two were checking out the gourd houses and two others were looking at the apartments, The next morning I spotted another pair on the condo. So, inquiring minds want to know-
What are Mr & Mrs Martin looking for in a new home? a nice porch? extra windows?  a roof perch?
A gorgeous paint job provided by the starlings and sparrows in their absence? Perhaps it's the pond view that seals the deal?

He likes this one- not sure about her.

  1. I'm not in a bad mood, so that makes two of us. As long as there's two, there must be more.....keep smiling at him....I'll bet he was just on Prednisone. My little bird family has returned to their birdhouse too. And talk about chirping!!! They are certainly in a good mood. And I remember the 80's too....and the 70's.....and the 60's.....not much of the 50's, but some. Good thing we can remember. Maybe that's why we are happy. We know nothing bad ever lasts forever. Look at mullets!

  11. Our warm weather is going the way of all things, back to cold weather by the middle of next week, but at least the roller coaster has started to roll! I have to remember that it's still February.
It would be nice if Hobby Lobby served cake...

  13. "yearly termite insurance bill" Never heard of this. But if you need it, I'd say it is a necessity. Even if you don't like paying it. -grin-

  15. People here are grumbling about the weather but they are still smiling. I thought spring was here when we had 40 degree weather for 2 days and the snow was melting. But we had another snowstorm yesterday. Glad that spring has arrived there.
Termite insurance. Never heard of it.
    Have a great weekend.

  16. Well, we did not buy the termite insurance last year...gambling we won't need it. It's a real problem here, so guess I need to re-think it. Yay for the martins! Get out your nail polish--spring is around the corner. :)

  17. Add me to the bad mood list. Maybe next week will be better. No capris and flip-flops here. Snow boots, shovel, and wool socks.
Maybe the birds know something we don't know. : )

  22. Some people like to share their misery and others are just to pooped to smile....i always find when surrounded with grumpers that is the best time to let my smile shine. I would be wearing socks with my sandals....LOL...and thats in the house. I like the angle you used to photograph the tree....:)

  23. Wonderful shot. I did the same thing... captured the moon rise Saturday night and moon set Sunday morning. The moon set shots are still on my memory card in the camera, need to take a look at them and perhaps post them side-by-side.

  29. If it were in the 70s here, you couldn't wipe that smile off my face! Love the martins... :)

  30. It does seem as though people are in a bad mood - myself included. Spring arrived where you are!?! Having the martins return must be very cool!

  31. Termite insurance? I don't think we have that in Canada. Might be the next thing coming, with climate change.

Even Bears are in a bad mood these days. Maybe some of us are awake too early. Maybe its the way our air and water are being poisoned. Maybe some of us didn't hibernate very well. If you go into the woods, beware of grouchy Bears. (There might even be a few grouchy Bears on-line, though I hope not.)

Glad your Martins are back. Pond view would probably help as a "selling point" on you properties. Good news you have.

Blessings and Bear hugs, from a not-too-grouchy Bear.

  33. I think the weather here has people in a grumpy mood, including me.. I love the cute Purple Martins. You are so lucky to have them nesting there. I will be happy for the shorts and flip-flop weather.. Thank you for linking up to my Saturday's Critter party. Have a happy weekend!

  34. Martins certainly are a sign of spring. We used to have them every spring but I guess they have moved. I would like to entice them back because they are good insect eaters.

I guess my groundhog was right. We've had three pretty days. The garden is tilled with cow gold added. We're ready to plant the early stuff.

  35. Your moon shot is wonderful, very artistic! The Martins are sweet how you have caught the pair looking for a home. Those termites cause us a lot of expense don't they? Your photos put a smile on my face this morning, and for that I thank you. Have a great Sunday!
