Powered Down

And now it's time for another random week round-up with Nancy

As I was driving down main street this morning I saw a man
(maybe early 20's) walking in the most peculiar manner
one leg straight, and swinging the other around- step, swing, step swing.
And he was holding his crotch.
(I kid you not)
My granddaughter (who was with me)
informed me that he was just trying to keep his pants from falling off.
Well....
that explains that.

Did I tell you that I have discovered a new show I am just loving?
- Downton Abbey.  I am late to the game as always...
just now seeing the first season's episodes.

Men - you can skip this one
Ladies- I have found the most wonderful product for hot flashes
Menocet.
It's about 11 dollars on Amazon, and it works.

It's pretty much official, so I will just go ahead and tell you-
Yoga and I are THROUGH.
Pulled hamstring muscle.
The End.  So what if I can't touch my toes...I mean REALLY.

and last, but not least,..
my mother is learning facebook, and has bought an iphone
I am so proud of her!!
Now I can text "I love you" to her everyday

and how was your week?

  2. Lovely header, super close=ups, and the randoms.... at any OLD age we can still learn, your Mum is right up there with the rest of us now. Cheers from Jean

  4. That is so sweet that you are looking forward to texting your mom I love you. You are a good daughter. :-) Have you tried any of Rodney Yee's yoga DVDs? He has different routines that fit different needs. I used to do a morning routine just about every morn. I need to get back to that.

  5. That is such a soft blue in the dragonfly.

  6. Love the picture, and the title fits perfectly!!

OK.. so Downton Abbey... I too was slow to check it out. Now.. I'm hooked. So far, this season has me talking to the t.v. Intense !

Good to know about the hot flashes... I'll have to keep that in mind.
I've been using a doTerra product and it works great.

Yoga.. well.. I'm late to that party too. My sweet husband bought me a dvd that I've been wanting to try out. It's still in the box.
I've been doing all my bending and stretching painting, scrubbing and painting Spencer's house **grin**!!!

    Enjoy the weekend, my friend.

  7. Those photos make me miss the dragonflies skipping over our local pond. Something to look forward to. Sorry about your hamstring. I was put off Yoga when a friend of mine threw her back out. My enthusiasm left with her. I wanted to learn tai kwando until another friend was thrown over someone's shoulder and broke her leg. My enthusiasm again left with her. I think I'm okay just walking and that's a challenge ;)

  8. p.s. love the fact that your Mom is doing all this stuff. Good for her.

  9. Love your critter photos. I keep hearing folks praise Downton Abbey, but I've never gotten into it...possibly because it was in about its fourth season before I was introduced to it.

  10. Hi There, Loved the title, Powered Down… Guess he was 'resting' for awhile!!!! We all need to 'power down' sometimes, don't we?

Funny about the man trying to keep his pants up ??????? Gads!!!

Sorry about your injury… My exercise these days is WALKING… Seems safer!

Great that your Mom is jumping into the Facebook and iPhone world. My father-in-law taught himself the computer when he was 90…

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  12. Beautiful dragonfly!

My hubby CAN NOT keep his mouth shut when he sees someone with their pants hanging down. I don't like it, but it drives him crazy!!!

My kids have been trying to talk me into an iphone, but I just haven't wanted to do it... although, with all the time at the hospital I could definitely use one. Facebook, ain't happening. I've barely had time for blogging.

  13. Terri, I love your pretty dragonfly shots. My son, hubby and I are always texting back and forth.. Glad your Mom is joining in on all the fun! Have a happy weekend!

  14. I know that yoga would be way too slow paced for me, so I've never tried it. So sorry about your hamstring. Ouch!

  15. Awww I love that about your Mom Terri! My Mom would have loved me texting "I love you" any old time, she would have loved a cell phone, oh my golly would she have loved a cell!!! I keep trying to love Downton Abbey but it just isn't happening. I did the menohhhhhhhhpause back around 2001 and no hot flashes anymore but it is still messing with my sleep. Glad you found something to help with the hot flashes. Yeah, yoga, nah. I can touch my toes easily when I am reclined on the couch.. :) Fun Random 5 Terri! Good Morning.. Enjoy your Saturday!

  16. Great shots of the dragonfly. Your Random Friday (which is new to me) stories were fun to read. I have been watching Downton Abbey since the beginning and love it! Yoga can be strenuous but I follow a DVD by Suzanne Deason that is low key stretching for weight loss with no pretzel forms to make.
No iPhone for me yet but I'm sure it's coming one day.

  17. I too have seen some strange gaits of young men trying to keep those pants up. Usually its one hand gripping the pants as they walk. Ridiculous.

  18. Very funny about the many "holding up his pants".... With some of the pants lately, I can nearly believe it. Downton Abbey... Oh I got hooked on that totally and have purchased all of the seasons. I was two seasons behind when I discovered it... and now just dying for each new program, and this time am taping it. so interesting reading about HighClere where this is filmed. Sorry about your hamstring.

  20. Happy Weekend, Terri!

    I like the dragonfly shots.
.Sounds like you had an interesting week. I am not much of a tv watcher, but have heard lots of good things about Downtown Abbey.
I am an avid walker and have never tried yoga. When you live in the middle of nowhere we don't get to try some of the trendy things.
Your Mom will love keeping in touch with family and friends via facebook. Yea for her to try new technology!

    ReplyDelete
  21. no photo of the weird walker? LOL... good for your mom, going high tech... I will try to remember the menecet.. i dont need it any more but there are others i know that do... one of the perks of old age, is the flashes are gone, but i can't sit, stand lay or touch my toes and if fall on the floor i will have to stay there...

  22. Gotta love the innocent thoughts of our grandchildren!!!
    Beautiful dragon fly.

  26. How sweet that you can write a love message to your Mother every day....I love that idea! And my hubby and I are BOTH hooked on Downton Abbey! Love your 'powered down' photo! Hugs!

  27. Guys and their pants, honestly! I'm with you, so what if you can't touch your toes! Love your photos!

  28. Love your Dragonfly. My Mum refuses to text or facebook, but my mother-in-law bought an Ipad last year and is loving Facebook. She is now first with all the family gossip.

  30. Sorry about your hamstring. I do yoga but take it pretty easy and don't exert myself too much. That's great that your mom is learning Facebook and has an iphone so you can text her. When my mom turned 80 she learned how to send email. Not on a computer but on an email machine.

  32. Beautiful pictures, my friend. Yes, I have seen "that walk"...and it drives me crazy. Remember when it was considered "indecent", even illegal, to dress that way (pants hanging down)? *augh* I think it is sweet that your mom is texting with you! I hope you are pain-free (yoga moves)!

    ReplyDelete
  33. What a pretty color of blue! Sorry about your hamstring. That sounds painful. I haven't done yoga for quite a while. I'd like to take it up again, but I'm not as flexible as I once was, and I'm not sure if I can still do it. I hope you are having a nice weekend.

  34. So far I have kept my eyes off the Abbey but will probably cave. Sooo many people just love it.
When I see pants like that, I want to do what we use to do when I was in high school when the guys wore their pants low on their hips. We use to "pants" them by tugging on their pockets and pull their pants down. And here you thought that was a new fad. It is just a bit more exaggerated these days.

  35. Love the dragon fly pics...I tried all summer to get pics of them but nada ...I need a better camera. It couldn't possible be me!
I'm way past hot flashes (probably your Mother's generation) but I do stretches in the morning to ensure I don't hurt myself...LOL! They're great! Just what comes natural...twisting around and back, touch my toes, side bends....just to keep limber so I can fill my water softner, clip my toenails and pick up things off the floor without making those "old people sounds" like "ouff".
As for the young man walking down the street....just be grateful you don't have to walk that way.

  36. Such a pretty colored dragon fly! Kudos for trying Yoga, sorry it didn't pan out. Downton Abbey fan here too. But if they kill off one more actor - I am finding something else to watch!

  44. My 83 year old mother uses her phone to text me. Texting is all I do. My hearing loss keeps me from actually talking on the phone unless I use my captell phone. I have not watched Downton Abbey. I plan to do what you are doing, get the discs from Netflix and catch up. Love your pictures too!!

  46. Your mother sounds amazing! I hope you've inherited her good genes for learning stuff in your senior years. ;))

  47. Your granddaughter is astute. That's probably exactly what he was doing. That made me laugh. I've never seen Downton Abbey but hope to catch up sometime.. perhaps via Netflix, if I can. So very sweet that you and your mom text one another. Love that. I hope you heal quickly.

  48. Your photo's are super good. I like seeing them extra large. I wish i had stuck with Downton Abby...I may have to go back to the beginning. Your mom will love FB once she gets acclimated. Sorry the yoga did not work out....I fear I would pull more than a hamstring....

  49. How sweet that you can text your mom. I love your description of the young man walking. :-)

  50. Love your last comment --- That you say I love you to your Mom!! My mom has a cell phone, but it's ONLY for emergencies, and we gave her a computer - but she just can't keep it working. So I call my Mom every night at 9pm to see how her day went and to say - I love you!!
    Downtown Abbey is GREAT!! Especially Grandmama :-}}

  51. Pretty dragonfly! Great that your mom is learning new technology, I wish I could talk my 75 yr old cousin into learning to use the computer. We are a thousand miles apart and I just know she would enjoy it once she got the hang of it. Yoga... not here.
