Vee's November Note Card Party 2013

Above is my 1 photo from the past
I used it to make a header two falls ago.
The following 3 are all recent seasonal
shots from around the neighborhood & my pond

I had such a neat experience yesterday and I just have to share it.
My husband and I went to Target, .trying to get a little Christmas shopping done while he is off on vacation.

Anyway...all week long I have been humming... no particular reason why...I just do this sometimes...get a song stuck in my head and I can hum it off and on for days. (I cannot carry a tune to save my life, so I rarely sing except in church)

So, I am walking  up and down the shampoo aisle (youngest granddaughter wants "hair stuff"  (which means expensive shampoo) and I was humming.  I was totally in the shopping zone..not a care in the world, humming away, and down at the other end of the aisle..I heard someone else humming.  It got my attention...she wasn't humming loudly either, but I heard her, and she heard me.

We smiled at each other and she went on around the end of the aisle...still humming.

The song was..
 How Great Thou Art.

I know it was a simple thing,
 but it made my day.

(Go ahead...hum it and see how good it makes you feel!)

  10. I was going to write to you but realized I didn't have your email address. I didn't understand what a 'box cover' was until I had seen a few. Then I made one and added it to my post! Sweet hugs!

  14. Your story warmed my heart. That hymn makes me cry every time, FYI. Love your shots, especially the trees with fall foliage.

  15. First of all, I want to say how glorious your photos are! And they make a lovely collection of cards. I miss our pretty colors already here in NC... not much left. I too, get songs stuck in my head and can't get them out. Just a few days, we were on a road trip and I was listening to my ipod with the earbuds and Carrie Underwood came on singing her version of How Great Thou Art...it makes the hair stand up on the back of my neck. I found myself humming it throughout the day....no better song be stuck there :)

That made a shopping trip a little more bearable I'm sure!

Lovely autumn themed cards for all occasions. The lake with the heron is my favorite - love birds.

  18. Awesome experience, Terri!

I sometimes whistle Christmas carols while walking through Costco (or some other such place), and occasionally have received complements. Lots of fun for everyone.

Love your pictures, especially of the pond.

    Blessings and Bear hugs!

  22. "Then sings my soul, my God, how great Thou art . . . " Yes, I'm humming now. :-) That's a great story. You passed on your sweet spirit to someone else.

Those are lovely photos! I have gained a new appreciation for the browner leaves this fall. We didn't have a lot of the usual color around here. I started noticing that the brown ones reflect the light in a very pretty way.

I'm humming now too and wanting to sing out loud but it's after midnight and hubby in the other room might wonder a little. :)
Love that hymn. It brings back good church memories of growing up.

  32. I have been a hummer my whole life, as was my mother. i also whistle a lot as did my dad and his sister. try humming or whistling in a large bathroom or the locker room at the Gym... it is a sound amplifier.. and i get songs stuck to, and when it is one i don't really like, i turn on the radio to change my loop. the bad thing is, for years i worked in a cubicle at a computer in a 200 person call center. the girl on the other side was 30 years my jr and she asked me to stop humming. i tried. so we came up with if i did it she would email me or just say outloud, you are doing it....i did get better at work.

  35. I love your fall theme of note cards! Isn't it a wonderful time of year? I also got a chuckle out of your humming story. I think I would be arrested as a public nuisance if I tried to hum.

  37. Lovely seasonal photos. I too get a song "stuck" in my head sometimes... I sing in a large Ladies Choir (110+ members) and right now we are preparing for our Christmas concert. All music must be memorized. I often wake at 3 or 4 a.m. with a song going through my head...

  39. Wonderful nature note cards. My late father's favourite hymn was How Great Thou Art and I used to play it on the piano for him. Funny how things happen, I've been thinking about him with Christmas coming up and here you share that yourself and a stranger were humming the hymn. Your post has given me a warm feeling.
