This Week's Random 5

My parents were camping at the lake pictured above, but were politely asked to leave on the first day of the government shutdown.

Randomly...

Happy Birthday to my youngest granddaughter, Haley Grace!

I would like to meet the man who invented the HE washing machine.  Maybe he can explain why he thought it was a good idea.

My office smells like candy again.  I'm making treat bags for our local Halloween carnival.  This is torture because I can't eat it.    Why does candy smell so delicious??

We did a quick 2 day tour of northern Arkansas this week.  Beautiful, just beautiful!  But no fall foliage yet.  This elk in Boxley Canyon was being a little stuck up- but I was amazed just to see one in Arkansas.

My ironing pile is staring at me again.  I guess it's time to shut down the computer and get a few chores done.

Have a great weekend!

  10. We're about two or three weeks away from the prime fall foliage here in NW Arkansas and this year promises to be Awsome! I need to get down to Boxley Canyon to see the elk. I've never been there but it looks like a great place for some excellent photos. Very nice skywatch image, by the way.

And...this government. I swear. I was just reading about the long lines at the gates of Grand Canyon...people from all over the world are stuck!! Boggles my mind.

  18. Beautiful lake shot. I can think of some better places to close for the government shutdown.

  19. Well that is just stinking stupid about your parents being asked to leave the park. I think this whole Government Shutdown is ridiculous.
Cool shot of the elk even if he was a bit stuck-up.
Ironing....Who irons anymore? Actually my mom still does. Me I haven't touched one in years.

  20. Those two trips are the best!!! As for the government shutdown, I have a few words, but I'll leave my comments to your very beautiful pictures:)

  22. So sorry your parents trip was cut short--very, very unfair. Happy Birthday to your granddaughter!! I just used my first HE washing machine at a Laundromat and loved it. Now, I am desperately curious to know what you hate about them...Ah, candy-yea, the fragrance, the touch, the taste--Mmm! Love elk! Now you have me wanting to take a little trip to see some. Ironing--never. I am at peace with my wrinkles:)
    Blessings, Aimee

  23. We have a large Elk herd here in Kentucky. Such beautiful creatures. Tired of this government business as I know everyone is. Sad that it had to affect your parent's outdoor enjoyment!

  24. Beautiful captures. I can see why your parents would want to camp there. Sounds like you had a lovely trip.

  27. A beautiful sky shot! If your parents were there before they called for a shutdown I'd have been tempted to tell them I was there first.
I have a HE machine and I wish I didn't. I don't think my clothes get as clean and don't think about forgetting clothes for a couple of hours cause they end up stinking and need washed again.
    Happy Birthday to your granddaughter!
Congrats on a great shot of the elk even though he wasn't interested in his fifteen minutes of fame. :)

  30. Where were you in Northern Arkansas? We stayed at Marshall---and toured all around the nearby areas: Scenic Highway 7, Jasper, Boxley, Ponca, etc... Love that area!

Happy Birthday to your granddaughter.... Too bad your folks had to leave that gorgeous park... So many people have been effected by our stupid Govt--who obviously cannot run our country the way it should be run.... GADS!

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  39. It's too bad your parents had to leave that beautiful campground -- the sunset is fantastic. We like northern Arkansas very much, although we stay at Mount Nebo when we go there each Spring. We're hoping to go see some fall colors around here next week if we can work our way around park closures. I hope you have a great weekend.

  49. So unfortunate that your parents and so many others had to leave such beauty, thanks for sharing the photo of what so many are missing. Belated birthday wishes to your granddaughter. Ironing is only done when absolutely necessary...wrinkles are never to be feared, especially with age!
