Project 52, Week 31 ~ Little Blue Heron

I've never seen one of these gorgeous birds- had to google him!
He was a loner at our camp site, but just for an evening.

  1. Yes, he is quite different from his larger blue (or grey) Heron cousin. But a treat nonetheless.

Here's hoping you get to see one — up close and personal (via you camera) would be awesome.

  13. ...and they're quite an elusive bird. So, you did good spotting it!! They are indeed GORGEOUS. [they also go into a 'white morph'---all white, and then, they're very difficult to distinguish between the egret ---if you see a white 'egret'...make sure you check the color of the beak...it could very well be a little blue heron in white morph]

  23. Well, you've introduced me to a new bird with this post. I've never heard of a Little Blue Heron. At first, I thought you meant that it was a juvenile Great Blue Heron, but it looked too mature for that. So I looked it up. Very interesting.

Thanks for your visit to my blog today. It's much appreciated.
