Oh Mr. Willys,
what rough roads have you traveled,
what sights have you seen?
How boring it must seem to you,
to end your days standing guard
over a field-
watching birds fly,
& horses graze.
Rurality Blog Hop & Cool Clicks Thursday

It does make you wonder about the history behind it.
ReplyDeleteStories that truck could tell!
ReplyDeleteFor some reason - the tires don't match the body!!
They have tred and are NOT flat??
I learned to drive in an old 49 Willy, this brings back fun memories of that and 4 wheeling with my family.
ReplyDeleteMr. Willys...perhaps he watched several generations of young men returning from war and thinks his quiet retirement a bit of heaven.
ReplyDeleteIf jeeps could talk...
ReplyDeleteThat is a real fixer-upper with a lot of potential!
ReplyDeleteWow! Great photos ~ bet the Willys has lots to say if it could talk ~

ReplyDeleteWell it looks as if it's time to rest and retire - enjoy the sun...
ReplyDeleteand let the grass grow underneath your tires! :)

ReplyDeleteIt reminds me of my current velocipede.....
ReplyDeleteCool post. Thanks.
Ha ha, I can kind of relate to that old jeep. Instead of rust, I have wrinkles and stiff joints and have found my pasture. Life is good if slower.
ReplyDeleteEven though rusted, it's still a beauty to me!

ReplyDeleteMy nephew inherited my husband's family's Willys Jeep and he is working to restore it. Love the image!
ReplyDeleteI so often look at something vintage, used, and standing sentry as you so eloquently put it, and ponder its hey-days. Love the captures and your questions to it.
ReplyDeleteYou sure make me think of my grandfather today. He was obsessed with restoring Willys. He had a couple of them.
